In the age of standardised tests, MAP claims to be the one with a difference. With a few hours of MAP training now behind me, I can see how it stands above others (e.g. NAPLAN, ISA), with its adaptive properties. While not the high quality source of information that is an individual interview with the teacher, the MAP assessment certainly differentiates and can be used as a formative assessment. I'm yet to be convinced of its value as a summative assessment. With further training to come, perhaps my questions will be answered later this week.
